Eagles…NBC’s Touchdown Celebration

Last nights Eagles/Giants game was great. Eagles played solid football on both sides of the ball and came away with the W against a tough division rival but there was something that left a bad taste in my mouth. Yeah, Reid had some questionable play calls and the refs called an awful penalty on Nnamdi Asomugha that could have cost us the game but that’s not what’s bothering me.

What’s really bothering me is after Victor Cruz scored a touchdown NBC thought it would be a good idea to play salsa music as Cruz did his dumb touchdown dance. Philadelphia fans always get ripped for complaining that the national announcers are biases against our teams but there is no deny this one. You can’t join in or add to the touchdown celebration of a player on one team and not the other and still claim to be nonpartisan.

I’ve heard people say NBC is just trying to add to its broadcast or that they are trying to appeal to people watching the game but who aren’t necessarily football fans.  You can try to justify it anyway you like but I’m calling bullshit on this one. If I have to listen to salsa music after every Victor Cruz touchdown I want them to play this after every Desean Jackson touchdown.
