Sixers Balls: Iverson is a “Lost Soul”

We have heard and know all the stories. The late nights at T.G.I.Fridays or at Houlihans. How he use to never pack clothes for a road trip, instead by fresh new gear in every city he visited. The team meetings he missed and how we will never forget “WE TALKIN PRACTICE’.

Iverson was a warrior on the court and everyone knows that, but off the court he is a lost soul. The Washington Post just put out a story on Iverson’s struggles off the court. It talks about his divorce, drinking problem, his fight to get back in the NBA and how he is  failing as a father. It also tells how Larry Brown and Pat Croce try to stay in touch with him and help him.

I have a soft spot for Iverson and I understand why others don’t. But on March 30, 2013 when Iverson step on the court for his bobble-head night I saw that I am not alone with my feelings. That was loudest I heard the arena all year. It had me wishing for the old days and that Iverson wasn’t a lost soul. Here is the link to the story. It’s a must read.

Sixers Balls: AI back in the House tonight!

Its AI bobble-head night down at the Wells Fargo and Iverson is scheduled to open the game up by presenting the game ball. I say “scheduled”, because you know how Iverson can be. I love AI, but you never know what the dude is up too.

You know what the Sixers should really do? Surprise everyone by announcing that they signed Iverson to a one-day contract and have him play. Now that would be BAD-ASS. I should just tweet Adam Aaron. The dude answers everyone else on tweeter.

Just for the hell of it, here are Iverson highlights.

Sixers Balls: Iverson to get one more chance? I hope…

The last time we saw Iverson he was opening up Game 6 of the Second Round of the Playoffs against the Celtics. I swear, I almost cried that night. Watching him at center-court as the crowd went wild for him.

I would love nothing better than to see my favorite player of All-Time running up and down an NBA court again. This might be the only way for the 37 year-old, 11- time All-Star to get back in the league. Marc Stein of ESPN reports that the Texas Legends of the NBA’s development league is pursing Iverson…

The Texas Legends are lobbying Allen Iverson to try work his way back to the NBA by playing for the Dallas Mavericks‘ Development League affiliate, according to D-League sources.

Sources told ESPN.com that the Legends, who are co-owned by Mavericks president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson, ramped up their seasonlong pursuit of Iverson on Monday, offering him the chance to resurrect his career.

Will A.I say yes? He has been reluctant so far. If he really wants back in the NBA he has to know that this really is the only way he can get back. His last NBA game came back in 2009 with the Sixers. He also had that injury-filled stint in 2010-11 with Besiktas of Turkey. That lasted only 10 games. All I can remember about his time in Turkey was when he arrived and looked like he was about to shit himself.

It really is sad to think about all of the success he had in the league and how he has struggled to get back in. He never really did himself any favors with his reputation though either. If he does sign with Legends he would be teammates with former NBA players Delonte West and Rashad McCants. I hope he signs and gets one more chance.
